Meet the Tutor: Kim Hamadani
What’s the best part about working with Revolution Tutors? Our incredible team!
This summer, we’ll be highlighting members of our expert staff in a series called Meet the Tutor. If you’ve ever been curious about where our tutors have gone to school themselves, how they spend their free time, and what it would be like to be in their class, read on!
This week, we’re highlighting the incomparable Kim Hamadani, a museum-loving, dog obsessed travel and dance enthusiast who is always happy to see a slice of chocolate cake.
A current resident of Brooklyn, NY, Kim attended Hunter College for her undergraduate training in Psychology and Dance. After graduation, she pursued an M.S. degree in Dance and Movement Therapy at the Pratt Institute so she could find a career that would blend her passion for movement with her desire to serve others. She found that career, and now works as a Mental Health Coordinator at a pre-school, where she uses her training to provide dance and movement psychotherapy for young children from 0-5 years old and their families.
Kim’s favorite part about working at Revolution Tutors is the people! She says, “I love the students that work with us- they’re often enthusiastic and funny. They help keep me entertained while we’re working through tough material.” Her genuine love for her students and appreciation of humor means that her classes are usually a good mix of conversation and hard work. She balances her relaxed attitude with a determination to accomplish as much as possible during each session. In order to help students stay engaged, she adopts non-traditional methods such as having the class do jumping jacks or breathing exercises to wake them up, or allowing students five minutes to share all of their thoughts before diving into the classwork.
Learn more about Kim and see what you might have in common through her five favorites:
COFFEE! I will almost always have a cup of coffee with me while teaching… and in my daily life.
I lived in Amsterdam for 6 months while I studied abroad and it is one of my very favorite cities.
Dogs are probably my favorite creatures on earth.
You can never go wrong with french fries or chocolate cake.
I can spend hours in museums and still feel like it isn’t enough.
